The Dubai government’s $136 million SME push to help small business to globalize will trigger an immediate influx of entrepreneurs and top talents from around the world to either expand or set up new businesses in the emirate, before taking them global, because of the inclusivity of the initiative, experts and industry players said.

The new initiative is also expected to ignite a flurry of expansions and new product launches by existing small and medium businesses and marketplaces by taking advantage of the interest-free loans to gear up for their regional and global plans.

Is Coca Cola Killing the Business of its SME Distributors?

According to information gathered by a reporter, Coca Cola Company had about twelve distributors in Sierra Leone when it first started operations.  These distributors were known as Key Distributors, some as small business owners. They were responsible for the distribution of all Coca Cola products in the country.

Fast forward to now.

There is a court case looming between the Sierra Leone Bottling Company better known as Coca Cola Company and some of its former Manual Distribution Centres Operators. These Manual Distribution Centre Owners (MDCO) who were Small Business Entrepreneurs (SME) claim that Coca Cola Company has killed their businesses instead of supporting them.

E-Commerce Helps Small Businesses Go Global

How do you create jobs and generate livelihood in a country?  Set up an e-commerce platform, such as the case in Pakistan, by China's biggest e-commerce portal Alibaba.

The [China] prime minister Nawaz Sharif] termed e-commerce a catalyst for bringing improvement in Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector, which he said could help promote the disadvantaged segments of the society. He said digital transactions were a solution for small entrepreneurs to expand their businesses and reach global markets.

E-commerce has the potential to unlock growth in emerging markets and elsewhere.
