Congrats to SBA's National Small Business Week Awardees!

The head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Linda McMahon, announced the 2017 National Small Business Week awardees for 16 different categories ranging from exporting, outreach, contracting, lending, disaster recovery to manufacturing and research and development.  Small Business Week is set as the first week in May.

The National Exporter of the Year 2017 award goes to:

Rose Morris, President

Abram's Bed LLC

Dba The Safety Sleeper

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Rose's story goes like this:

I am a loving mother of three children the middle of which is Abram who is on the autism spectrum. Like many other families who have a loved one with special needs, I struggled with finding a good solution to protecting my son at night.  There was no product on the market that could support my son's sleeping issues, night wanderings, temper melt-downs and give us the freedom to be a typical family.

I feared for Abram’s safety and out of that fear, The Safety Sleeper™ was developed.

HP is shining a light on some of the country’s most dynamic, innovative and expanding SMBs, recognizing the achievements of those that have successfully entered the international export market and encouraging those looking to break into new territories.  Hence, the HP Go Global Awards.

The awards echo Go Global’s original principles – that small business owners should not shy away from international trade opportunities because of perceived language, currency, cultural and business barriers.

Categories are Breakthrough Exporter of the Year and Next Breakthrough Exporter of the Year.

Are You a Star Exporter?

ThinkGlobal is accepting nominations for the 2012 Exporter of the Year Award. The Exporter of the Year Awards are given to one U.S. company in each of ThinkGlobal's Commercial News USA magazine's industry categories.

Nominate yourself (why not?) or someone else you know who is doing a fabulous job on the exporting front.

Criteria:

Winners in each industry will be chosen by the ThinkGlobal publishing team based on the total number of documented export deals completed in 2010, total percentage increase in sales in 2009 compared to 2009, exports as percentage of total sales, the company's commitment to exporting, the company's commitment to customer service, and the company's innovation and originality in marketing products or services. To be eligible for the award, the nominee must be a company that is exporting from the United States. Companies may nominate themselves for the award.
