The Global Business of Fashion

In an increasingly interconnected market— thanks, in part, to the influence of social media as well as the globally attuned coverage of websites like Business of Fashion — some younger Indonesian designers are gradually stealing the limelight in the world’s fashion capitals lately.

These fashion designers, such as Surabaya-Indonesia born Biyan Wanaatmadja, an industry veteran of more than 30 years, draw inspiration from the wealthy trove of Indonesian culture.

As designer Toton Januar says, “The biggest challenge so far, thankfully, doesn’t come from our lack of creativity or failure to attract their [the world's] attention. Instead, it’s about how we can fulfill their demands, which means I have to expand my operational team. Quality is everything when it comes to the international market.”

Biggest Overseas Market For Tupperware?

Where is Tupperware Brands selling the most product?  If you thought China, guess again.  It's Indonesia -- a booming consumer sector.
Indonesia last year replaced Germany as the biggest market for Tupperware Brands Corp., which sells plastic containers for leftover beef stew and baba ganoush at house parties world-wide.

Open to International Investors: Indonesia

Why is Indonesia so ripe to international investment opportunities?
Indonesia has a very positive story to tell -- for openers, its economy is on track to hit $1 trillion in GDP by 2014. The country is the third-largest democracy in the world and it is in a demographic sweet spot -- half its population is under 30.
