Egypt Supports Local Entrepreneurs to Unleash Their Potential Internationally

According to the Washington Times and based on numerous studies, Egypt's ideal entrepreneurial ecosystem fosters the growth of entrepreneurial and innovative ventures and has five main pillars:

1. Access to funding.
2. Entrepreneurial culture.
3. Educational systems supporting the entrepreneurial mindset.
4. Accommodating regulatory and tax regimes.
5. A coordinated approach linking the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Egypt seeks to not only attract foreign innovation-driven ventures to capture its high potential youth market, but it is also wants to support local entrepreneurs to unleash their potential in the domestic and international markets.

Growing the Worldwide Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

As a proud member of the World Entrepreneurship Forum, I've always felt that entrepreneurship has room for more supportive players -- those who want to develop ideas and recommendations for startups, business entrepreneurs, experts and so forth.

In this case, a Boulder, Colorado company, Techstars, that specializes in small-business startups, has acquired UP Global, which sponsors 1,800 entrepreneurship events worldwide, including Kansas City’s Startup Weekend.

“By joining forces with UP Global, Techstars can continue to accelerate the pace of innovation by strengthening the path for entrepreneurs, providing better support for entrepreneurial communities and helping to grow the worldwide entrepreneurial ecosystem,” Techstars president David Brown said in the announcement.

U.K. Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Insights: Brought To You By the World Entrepreneurship Forum 2012

This is the third installment in our interview series and in preparation for the 5th edition of the World Entrepreneurship Forum 2012 in Lyon, France (October 24-27), which I will attend.

The theme for this year's Forum is:  "Entrepreneurial Ecosystems:  Cultivating Communities to Drive Wealth Creation and Social Justice."

Below is the interview with Peter Harrington, UK, is currently the CEO of SimVenture (Venture Simulations Ltd), a company that specialize in Innovative Business Simulation Technology. Peter has been official member of the World Entrepreneurship Forum since 2011.

From your experience and knowledge, what do you think Entrepreneurial Ecosystem is?

Peter: For me, a successful Entrepreneurial Ecosystem is a space run by people with very entrepreneurial minds. Ecosystems are self-supporting, energetic environments that attract, nurture, move on and reward different stakeholders. Rules are few and failure is encouraged; yet through mutual trust, shared thinking and doing, budding entrepreneurs develop the right attitude of mind and acquire key skills to take them into their future world.
