Navigating International Waters

Navigating international waters is difficult for industry newcomers.  Small businesses, including designers, manufacturers and retailers, represent 70 per cent of the apparel industry in Canada, according to the Canadian Apparel Federation in Ottawa.

Many companies want to source locally but it isn't always feasible due to high costs, lack of appropriate suppliers, and required high volume orders.

Further, working with overseas suppliers requires a knowledge of duties, payment methods, regulatory requirements, and regulations.
